I need to tell you my Nola story and I I have a few but one when I hitchhiked, I guess it was safe back then, to Nola during my sophomore year at SIU for Mardi Gras. I love that city pure joy as they continue to scribble out side the lines.
I remember my "pocket full of coins" days in the Nola.
Spencer, last night was so great and special w you all. Thank you so much! Enjoy NOLA’s little spots! One of which is the small club Chickie Wah Wah; so glad to have you all for a couple nights!💜😊
Hey, Spencer. Thanks for the latest reflections. Walking into a store, coffee shop, or laundromat, and hearing great music is one of life's great pleasures.
I hear the band and crew received some special cookies last night at the show.
I read Jeff's tour report yesterday, and it inspired a dream I had this morning. In the dream, the performance space was a large, dark garage. You and two pals were performing as a classical string trio, while a fourth person was rapping accompaniment through a portable record player.
Jeff came out afterward and announced that, as it was the end of the tour, he was going to give away the clothes he had worn throughout the tour to someone in the audience. I yelled "over here!",
and he threw a bundle of clothes onto the bench where I was sitting. I won three white T-shirts and a well worn pair of size 38 grey sweatpants!
Oh, and don't worry: he was still dressed at the time....
Back in the early 80’s we used to carry our dirty laundry and our coins into the Maple Leaf Bar on Oak uptown. I imagine you have heard of it…all the New Orleans great musicians have played there and I’ve seen many over these 45 years. How fun it was to launder as the I sipped a Dixie and listened to the music play, the spin cycle adding to the cacophony of sound from the stage. Those were the days!
Hope you were able to visit the old Matassa’s recording studio/grocery store on Rampart where Fats, Dr. John, Allen Toussaint, Irma Thomas and so many other cool NOLA cats recorded.

What a storytelling gift you’ve got, Spencer.

If you've never read "A Confederacy of Dunces" you're now ready! Just sayin...
We named a club after an exchange in that book.
What is the name?

Love this and always love hearing about my home away from home! Safe travels. 😘

Love that town! Seriously on my list of potential move…
Great show in Houston Friday! Did you find anything interesting to do while you were here?
Now THAT’S a proper band photo!
❤️✨🔥
I heard Jeff's unmistakable voice coming through the speakers in a Hy Vee grocery store. Made my year.
Nothing like a coin laundry. Thanks for the update and "Keep Um Flying. "
Absolutely lovely. Thanks!
Great show last night! Thanks.
