You were all magnificent in Irving Wednesday night. The sound was great. Bravo to all! That's a good, funny take on Broadway St. in Nashville. I find it to be a major bummer. Similar in the way Bourbon St. is also fairly lame. Regarding the show- I was hoping somehow Katie might duet with Jeff for a rendition of You and I. I'm spoiled from numerous Solid Sound Fests where band mashups occur magically and often. Thx for the post and safe and happy travels! Oh, and I love your singing voice too, sir. Looking forward to hearing the new stuff you're cooking up. Can't make to Chicagoland, though.
Off to an excellent start! That photo needs to be on the cover of your book, when you make a collection of your essays and reports. Kind of like the covers of another Tweedy author … that rolling of the eyes upward is so endearing!
When I think of drummers I admire, it almost seems like their wrists and hands are on a different circuit: fluid yet controlled, elegant and powerful, not stiff. They know how to use the wrists to do half the work. But then you really do have to have that core strength to keep steady and keep going!
Interesting..I always think when I listen to you drum that what hooks me is the subtle constant rhythm that seems to ride under everything else…but seriously, not a beer drinker, but $9 for Bud Light?! Takes me back to when my uncles would pay for my gas from Kansas if I would bring them Coors when you couldn’t get it east of the Mississippi…you guys know this is shittier than the Stroh’s you drink?…🤪
Controlled tension or tension without tension. Your gut is your spiritual reserve. Sounds spectacular to me. I wish I could play open mic without feeling like I want to puke.
Oh, and also, was just rewatching Smokey and the Bandit. Coors, east of the Mississippi is bootleg hootch. Check your rearview for Sheriff Buford T. Justice. ;-)
You look like such a boss standing with that drum kit! Love it. The paradox makes total sense to anyone who's ever played a live show - play loose but tight. So much of that is fed by the synergy of the band with whom you are playing, and it sounds like you have that covered. Wish you were doing your solo show in Philly so you could come for dinner!
LOVE that photo.

Thank You Spencer!

The gut knows and feels it all. Follow it always….to infinity and beyond….onwards and upwards. I think maybe it’s our best friend in a way ?💖

You could publish that first bit as a poem.
I’m so excited to see you all next week! We’ll be at the Charlotte and Asheville shows.

Oh. Wait. They sell Bud Light. Had Coors on the brain. haha.
Good luck on your fundraiser.
You are a good Joe.
Good ole Nash-vulle…I remember when uncle Tupelo played Amie’s. Then the Gold Rush after…A different city then.
I have always been so impressed by your writing. I, too, thought the opening was a poem, and perhaps it was.
Love the drum kit!
